If my visa is approved, how long does it take to get my passport back?

When your visa is approved, the interviewing officer will still need to keep your passport and documents for a period of time in order to complete administrative processing. You will be able to obtain your passport with your visa packet once the packet is ready for pickup. The Consular Officer will let you know when and how to collect your passport and packet. Some offices will send your materials to you through a courier service rather than have you pick them up. While passports are often available within one week, the exact time may vary significantly depending on the office used and the workload that the consulate is facing at that particular time.
