What is an “RFE”?

An "RFE" is a Request for Evidence. An RFE may be issued by USCIS for a variety of reasons, including when something in a pending immigration application is unclear, a document required for the application is missing, information in your application needs to be updated, or the officer makes a mistake. An RFE does not mean that your case will be denied but rather that the immigration officer reviewing your case needs more information before he/she can make a decision.
