Nonimmigrant “Temporary” U.S. Visas
A nonimmigrant or temporary visa allows an individual to be in the U.S. for a finite period of time. Each temporary or nonimmigrant visa has specific requirements that must be met in order for an individual to qualify for the visa.
For example, a work visa like the H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship. A student visa permits an individual to attend a U.S. college or university. A tourist visa allows an individual to visit the U.S., but not study or work.
It is important to understand visa requirements when determining visa eligibility.
