Relief from Removal
If issued a Notice to Appear by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and placed into removal (or deportation) proceedings, an individual may have a defense that allows them to remain in the U.S. legally.
If placed in removal proceedings, individuals may want to consult with an attorney as soon as possible to explore possible options. Some of the more common defenses to deportation include:
- Adjustment of Status
- I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence
- Cancellation of Removal for Nonpermanent Residents
- Cancellation of Removal for Lawful Permanent Residents
- Asylum/Withholding of Removal
- Temporary Protected Status
- Voluntary Departure
- Conditional Permanent Residency
