Business Immigration Paralegal

Responsibilities

Prepare documents and assemble cases for review and filing, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness. Manage a high volume of cases. Draft supporting letters and client correspondence. Participate in legal and firm meetings, including client consultations. Develop and maintain trusting and professional relationships with clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business immigration
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with case management systems
  • Well-organized and consistently meets established deadlines
  • Excellent research, analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of leading, training and developing paralegals

Paralegal 2

Responsibilities

Steven H. Garfinkel, PA dba Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm. Charlotte, NC and work in office 3 days per week and may telecommute (work from home) 2 days per week on Eastern Standard Time (EST). Multiple openings.

Prepare and file immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications and petitions, as well as responses to routine requests for evidence or other inquiries from USCIS and other government agencies. Complete case management system to-dos and reminders on a daily basis, update system to-dos daily and update client status effective within 24 hours.

Provide clients with timely and professional service, always seeking to exceed client expectations by proactively anticipating the next step in each case and following up with clients as needed. Track client expiration dates and filing deadlines, initiate inquiries for extensions or next steps in cases as needed, communicate with clients to facilitate completion of cases, all the while seeking guidance from Team Lead as needed. Prepare cases as completely as possible for Team Lead review, identifying or highlighting any uncertain issues or missing information.

Assemble cases for filing, ensuring that all procedural requirements for filing cases are met including filing fee, signatures, assembly of exhibits, jurisdiction, etc. Draft supporting letters and client correspondence.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (any field) or foreign equivalent and one (1) year of immigration paralegal experience. In lieu of a Bachelor’s and one (1) year, will accept three (3) years of immigration paralegal experience.
  • The experience must include one (1) year (with or without degree): utilizing immigration case management software (such as INSZoom, Tracker or other immigration case management system); writing documents for review by an attorney; using MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel and Outlook); conducting research and using immigration research tools such as AILA InfoNet. Work M – F, 8:30 a – 5 p, 37.5 hours/week. All hires must submit to a background check.
