Five Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm attorneys have been inducted into the 2025 North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society in recognition of their commitment to providing legal services to individuals in need.
Managing Partner Hannah F. Little, Partners Nam Douglass and Colleen F. Molner, Senior Counsel Catherine Magennis, and Associate Attorney William Crotty were among 1,317 lawyers statewide recognized by the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center for their volunteer legal work in 2025.
“Thank you to the NC attorneys and paralegals who volunteered to share their time and skills to help address unmet legal needs,” said Sylvia Novinsky, director of the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center, in a statement. “You play an integral role in addressing the access to justice gap.”
The North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society recognizes attorneys who provided at least 50 hours of pro bono services during the calendar year to individuals unable to afford legal representation. Each honoree receives a certificate from the Supreme Court of North Carolina acknowledging their contributions to expanding access to justice.
Garfinkel Immigration has a longstanding commitment to pro bono service, with the Firm’s attorneys and staff dedicating hundreds of hours each year to assisting individuals and families who may otherwise face barriers to legal representation.
Recent examples of the Firm’s pro bono efforts include:
- Providing “Know Your Rights” presentations to community organizations
- Hosting Power of Attorney clinics
- Volunteering at asylum and naturalization clinics
- Participating in refugee resource fairs
- Representing individuals through Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Immigration Pathways for Victims (IMMPAV) program and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Military Assistance Program
- Serving in leadership positions on local nonprofit boards and committees
Garfinkel Immigration was also named the 2026 AILA Carolinas Chapter Pro Bono Champion earlier this year in recognition of its partnership with Legal Aid of North Carolina’s IMMPAV project.
The Firm’s dedication to community service extends beyond its legal practice. Garfinkel Immigration recently continued its annual “Day of Service” tradition, with partners, attorneys and staff volunteering over two days in October at Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte to help sort and organize donations for the organization’s Free Store.
Garfinkel Immigration also contributes to local nonprofit organizations through its Charitable Fund, which directs a portion of the Firm’s profits to organizations that reflect its core values of inclusion, equality and social and economic justice.
