5 Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm attorneys inducted into 2024 North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society

Congratulations to the five Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm attorneys who were recently inducted into the 2024 North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society.

Managing Partner Hannah F. Little, Partner Colleen F. Molner, Senior Counsel Catherine Magennis, as well as Associate Attorneys Ana Delgado Hualde and William Crotty all received the honor in mid-October from the Supreme Court of North Carolina, in conjunction with National Pro Bono Week.

Attorneys who are honored by the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society must volunteer at least 50 hours of pro bono legal services “to those who are unable to pay” during the calendar year in which they are selected, according to the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center.

“Thank you to NC attorneys and paralegals who volunteered to share their time and skills to help address unmet legal needs,” Sylvia Novinsky, Director of the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center, said in a press release. “You play an integral role in addressing the access to justice gap.”

Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm is committed to making a positive impact on the local, national as well as international community, and the Firm’s staff members log hundreds of hours, combined, on pro bono cases each year.

Some examples of the Firm’s recent pro-bono activities include:

  • “Know Your Rights” presentations to multiple organizations
  • Hosting Power of Attorney clinics
  • Volunteering with Asylum clinics
  • Participating at Refugee Resource fairs
  • Assisting with Naturalization clinics, reviews and trainings
  • Taking on representation and cases from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Military Assistance Program and Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Immigration Pathways for Victims (IMMPAV)
  • Serving in leadership positions on local nonprofit Boards and Committees

Further, Garfinkel Immigration continued its “day of service” tradition with a volunteer event this summer at ourBRIDGE for KIDS’ campus in East Charlotte, where more than 40 staff members completed a variety of projects including cleaning and organizing sheds, refreshing classrooms, tidying school grounds, and more.

The Firm also contributes each year to the community via its Charitable Fund, which returns a portion of its profits to organizations in the local area that reflect its core values of inclusion, equality as well as social and economic justice.
